Bio

Caleb is a graduate of Calvin University where he double majored in Social Work and Political Science. He was a member of the cross country and track teams at Calvin, which he now helps coach. While part of those teams he was an All-American in Indoor & Outdoor Track. He additionally earned his MBA from Millikin University in 2022. Caleb is originally from the Chicago suburbs but has grown to love the community and culture of both Grand Rapids and Calvin.

Advice

Pursue your passions and never be shy about them. If you love theatre, join productions, take classes, and be a leader in that community. If you love athletics, train hard, push others, and ask questions of your coaches and teammates. If you love the outdoors, go backpacking and hiking, explore everywhere, and take some friends with you to do it. Whatever your passion is, invest in it wholly and never feel like you need to do something just “because it looks good on a resume” because passionate people recognize passion in every context.

Favorite Spot on Campus

The Gainey Athletic Facilities on the east side of campus where our cross country course is housed! It’s great for my own running now but is home to many fond memories of competing for the University!

Favorite Calvin Memory

Winning as a team at the Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational meet. It was entirely Division I universities that we were competing against, and we won our race against teams like Ohio State, Central Michigan, and Clemson despite not placing a single runner in the top 10 individually. We won because we ran together as a pack and pushed one another. Remembering how we celebrated as a team afterwards because we had run in a way that no one else there was able to do, that was the best part.
