Bio 

Emily graduated from Calvin University in 2022 with a major in English Secondary Education and minors in Spanish and English as a Second Language. Emily calls Grand Rapids home, and her favorite places in West Michigan are the Lake Michigan beaches. 

Advice

As you are considering which college might be the best fit for you, don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Be curious, be thoughtful, and ask all about those elements of college that are exciting, intimidating, or important to you. You will learn a lot by doing this, and you may even discover some new opportunities! 

Favorite Calvin memory  

Our month-long trip to the Yucatan Peninsula with the Spanish program was a highlight of my time at Calvin. Our professors connected us with many impactful learning experiences. We swam in cenotes, explored ancient ruins, and connected with the local families we were staying with. My host family was so kind and hospitable, and my Spanish language skills improved greatly over the course of the trip. 

Favorite spot on campus

Knollcrest dining hall! It’s a great place to grab dinner with your friends, and they always have a variety of meal options. Plus, their ice cream is the best!
