About the AC
Jon grew up in Lansing, Michigan, but was born and spent a few years after in Orange County, California, then made his way to Grand Rapids to come to Calvin in 2017. He graduated in 2017 with a Physical Education degree and minored in Health Education, and spent time working in ministry and with children with autism before getting his job at Calvin. This will be Jon's second recruiting cycle. Some of his favorite things about Calvin are the people and the community that is formed from time spent there, both for students and people working for the institution, as well as its commitment to keeping its faith in Jesus at the center. Outside of work Jon enjoys all things sports and games, drumming, and a good thinker movie.
Favorite Campus Gem
Look up when you get in the fieldhouse and see all the flags of countries hanging from the rafters. Those aren't up for fun, all of those flags representing at least one student who currently attends Calvin! (I'm a nerd about flags!)
Pro-Tip
I tell every student this: people will never know what you want or need if you don't tell them. See what scholarships are available, see what grants are offered, apply for everything aid or opportunity you possibly can. I wish I would've done that when I was applying for schools. You never know where you might go, what you might do, or what you might qualify for, so, even though it might take some time, just do it!
