Bio

Madison grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan about 15 minutes away from Calvin’s campus. She graduated from Calvin University in 2022 and hopped right into her position as an admissions counselor. Madison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication and Writing. She is passionate about her recruitment territory of the Northeast United States and loves nothing more than getting to explore new places. Working with high school students has been an interest of Madison’s for some time now and she’s excited to get the chance to be an advocate for her students and help them during this exciting time in their lives.

Advice

My favorite piece of advice to offer students is to visit lots of different types of schools ... large, public, small, faith-based, out-of-state, etc. This will really help you to understand your likes and dislikes about universities and assist you in feeling more confident about the school you end up choosing. Make sure to go into each visit with an open mind and don’t be discouraged if you feel like you can’t make a decision – there is a right school for everyone looking.

Favorite spot on campus

I have many favorite campus locations. One that comes to mind each time is the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve and Native Gardens. I developed a true love of the outdoors and plants during my time as a Calvin student, so having more than 100 acres of beautiful nature right on campus is such a unique and awesome way to experience God! I also really love the 5th floor of the library because it has a good medium noise level for studying and you get a great view of the whole campus if you sit by the windows.

Favorite Calvin memory

It would be impossible for me to just pick one thing memory to call my favorite from my four years as a Calvin student, so I’ll have to be vague. I always had so much fun going to varsity athletic games like volleyball and basketball, especially the Calvin/Hope rivalry games. They always had so much fun energy and it was so cool to see how the Calvin community showed up to support the teams. Calvin athletics really has the coolest atmosphere no matter which team is playing.
